Snaw snaw snaw

Missouri recently got between 6-12 inches of snow, and more was supposed to be coming down this past Tuesday night. I decided to leave work early to beat the horrible drivers during the rush home. As I rounded our corner, I noticed some people sledding down our hill. I thought it was just our neighborhood kids, but it turns out to be Adam and Kim. It was ridiculously adorable (see picture).

Adam was loving every second of it, until I honked to say "hi", which turned Kim's head, which turned the sled, which tipped a can't-move-his-arms-or-legs Adam out of the sled and into the snaw.

He didn't much love sledding after that, but it was cute while it lasted.

(Since the word "snow" sounds so much like the word "no", I thought I'd aptly title this post in the same manner that Adam says his "no's". Instead of saying "no no no", he says "na na na". Hence, the "snaw snaw snaw".)

Measly little boy

Adam got his 1 year old vaccinations recently, and his skin reacted to the measles vaccination. His only symptom is the rash, and they don't seem to itch or affect him in any way other than visibly, so that's good.

On a different note, I was fixing my computer the other night, and I set the open computer down on our stairs to go outside and clean out some of the dust from a fan. Apparently, I didn't put it far enough away from the banister and Adam reached through and knocked the computer over and down two steps. In the process, a sharp metal strip now exposed caught onto his fingers and sliced his pinky open, and dug some flesh out of his ring, middle, and index fingers.

(Adam, if you're reading this sometime in the future, I'm so sorry!!!)

But he's a tough little dude, he cried for less than a minute then wanted to play! And the cut on his pinky was almost deep enough for stitches! I think he's got his Uncle Justin's toughness on bodily injuries.

So, on top of him teething, his rash (which may or may not itch), and his open wounds on his hands, Kim is getting very little sleep.

(Kim if you're reading this in the present, I'm so sorry!!!)

Happy little man

I just had to put this picture up because he's such a happy baby. And it's ridiculously cute.

Winking

Grammy and Grandpa are over to babysit, and they reminded me that he can also wink. It's really cute, because he has to try SO hard to get it to work, but he does. It almost looks like he's squinting, but once in a while he gets one eye closed without the other. He did it before he was 1 year old, which is a pretty cool thing to do for a little boy.

Achievements

While we're on milestones in Adam's life, we noticed him playing with his piggy bank. He put 2 of the coins in the top (small) slot all by himself... back to back. When I pointed it out to Kim, she said that he was consistently putting the circular block into his cookie jar. She said that he would take it out and rotate the cookie jar until he found the circular hole to put it in.

And finally, he seems to recognize what phones are. Sometimes when he sees one, whether it's his toy phone attached to his cubic bank-like toy, or his cousin Maddie's, he puts it up to his ear like a big boy would... I guess he's becoming a big boy.

We're very proud parents, of course.

Words

I just wanted to compile a list of all of the words that Adam can say. He is 1 year and 4 days old at the moment.

The 1 through 16 are words that he knows the meaning of, or can point out. 17 through 24 are words that he can just mimic. And the rest are words the he can't say yet, but he knows the meaning of.

There very well could be more, but these are all we could think of in the few minutes we through this together.
