Smooch!
Adam has kissed both Kim and me before, but not like tonight. Actually, I think he's only kissed me a couple times before, but I think he gave me between 15-20 kisses since I've been home from work, and that's not including the ones he gave Kim (which, of course, weren't as many as mine ;-) )
Let me describe his kisses. Imagine, if you will, a little boy who's very determined to try something new. He comes over to you, staring directly at your mouth, then he opens his and sticks his tongue out, then proceeds to lick your mouth area for a second or two (or, in Kim's case, about 15).
It was seriously the sweetest thing I think I've ever experienced. And, as sloppy and drool-filled as it was, I want some more right now.
He's kinda scary...
I think it's hilarious!
ps. Look at his ab muscles, he's got a 6-pack!

Baby Linebacker
Not too much newness to report on, other than he's running around like a crazy little man... but I just thought this hat was cute, he looks like a 1920's football player.

Adam's 1st Halloween
Well, Adam's first Halloween was an eventful one. I was a knight, Kim was a princess, and Adam was the dragon that I had to rescue the prinecss from. It was an adorable idea that Kim thought up.
We went over to Becky and Aaron's, and the night went really well. Trevor was Darth Vader, and Madelyn was Dorothy Gale... both costumes were great. Once we put on Adam's dragon costume, we fully expected him to try to take it off (at least the hood part). But he just acted as if it wasn't even on him. He walked around the room, playing and talking, without ever trying to take the hood off. It was adorable watching him try to walk with those giant dragon feet.
We trick-or-treated for about a half hour with the kids, Adam contentedly sat in the wagon with Madelyn watching the exciting night unfold.
Once we got back to our house, it was Adam's bedtime. I read him his story, and put him to bed. About five minutes later, we heard him crying, so Kim went up to lay him back down. I was still sitting downstairs, when I heard Kim, very calmly, say "Hon, he threw up, can you help me?".
So, I went upstairs to help, expecting to see his typical little spit-up, but when I walked into the bathroom, I saw Kim holding Adam, aiming him at the toilet, with a firehose of vomit coming from him. It was insane, I actually thought she was pulling some sort of Halloween prank on me... it was reminiscent of "The Exorcist".
He had to have thrown up his body weight! I saw about 5 heaves, and each one was a solid stream of chunks for about 3-5 seconds.
Then, after a long while of him puking his guts out, he proceeded to act as if nothing was wrong, saying "Mama" and "Dada". Then he wanted to play. He's a tough little guy.
And that concludes my scary story of Adam's 1st Halloween. I wasn't sure how to "scare" you all, so I decided to make it gross. Ha ha, thanks Adam!

Had to post this too...
Not much to say about this, Adam is bound to be embarrassed by this someday, but suck it up kid!
Adam's first trip to the zoo
We just got back from Adam's first trip to the zoo. It was a very hot day, and it was PACKED!!!
He was still a bit too little to be really interested in looking at the animals, but once we got into the petting zoo, he loved it! He was always reaching out and touching the goats, trying to pull their hair (emphasis on "trying"), and grabbing their horns.
On a side note, there were 5 baby tigers there, which was alot of fun to see. They were running around wrestling with each other. It was adorable.
We bought Adam a baby tiger stuffed animal as a souvenir. It is the prey, Adam is its predator.

6+ steps
He normally takes 2+ steps before he starts to topple forward, typically from a couch to Kim or me. But yesterday he decided to walk from the couch to his toys, which were a good 4 feet away.
He took at least 6 solid steps on his own, away from any support, before he fell forward onto his face. He wasn't upset that he hit his head on the floor, he got up and gave us this big smile, he was so proud of himself, and so were we.
He'll be walking very, VERY soon.

One small step...
I'm not sure which one I'm going to count, but here's the two instances.
It was 6:03PM on Saturday, September 13th (yeah, that's right, I noted the time). Adam has been standing for anywhere from 2 to 15 seconds at any given stretch, and I was setting him up and letting him balance by himself for a few minutes now. When, after he was standing for a couple seconds, he took a single step towards me, then fell forward. But, he technically completed the full step before falling forward. I'm not sure if I want to count that as his first step, because it could have been more momentum pulling him forward, but I believe it was intentional.
The second time was at 7:07PM, and I was laying the ground watching "How I Met Your Mother", letting him walk along the couch, when he let go, as he always does, and balanced for a second. Then he took almost two full steps towards me and fell into my arms. I didn't set him up or anything, he just decided that the shortest route to get to Daddy was a straight line, walking. So he did!
So far, Adam has been so good at letting me be a part of his milestones, and I love him so much for that!

One step at a time
Adam wandered over towards the stairs, so I went to get him, when he proceeded to climb the first one like he's done it a million times. So I let him continue (with me right behind him, of course), and he ended up climbing up the entire stair case! I haven't counted them precisely, but I'd say there are about 20 stairs!
Of course, we are proud of him, but that pride was a little masked over by fear... both for him hurting himself, and fear for our sanity, because you know he's going to want to go back for more!

Another first!
I'll preface this by saying that Adam walks all over the place, while holding on to things, like it is nobody's business. And, he loves to walk around the house while holding onto his our hands.
Anyway, I was laying on the floor, like I do most nights, while Kim was cooking dinner. And Adam crawling all over me, using my body as a railing to walk around, when he just decided to stand up.
He wasn't holding onto anything, he was just standing there! And he stood there for like 5 seconds, just simply standing and looking around, nobody holding him up or anything! And then, when he had enough, he smoothly leaned forward until he reached me, and then proceeded to get down to play.
We were, needless to say, very VERY proud of him again!

My new favorite word
He said "dada"!
It was pretty funny too, because it was this morning, and Kim and I were sitting on the couch relaxing before I had to go in to work, and we were both trying to get him to focus on us while we said "dada" really slowly for him.
He was too interested in standing and holding on to the couch and declaring his dominance over the floor, when finally, almost out of anger, and seemingly to shut us both up, he yelled "dada".
We both looked at each other and kind of laughed, because it was not an innocent, meek little "dada" that came out of his mouth, it was a full-blown, somewhat angry version of the same great word.
Either way, it was amazing, as a father, to hear that for the first time. And, as always, we're both very proud of him.

Standing man!
Yep, he's moved right up from crawling, to standing! He pulls himself up and can wobbly walk along couches and chairs. He's loving every second of it!

Crawling!!!

Pulling himself up
Adam figured out that he can pull himself up in his crib now. He can't fully stand up, but he pulls himself up so he's on his knees and looking over the ledge. He's so proud when he does too.

Two new milestones
Milestone number 2: He taught himself how to sit up! The first time he did it was last Sunday, July 20, 2008. He's got 3 methods. The first method is to get in the push-up position and then slide each leg underneath himself, one at a time. The second method is he just gets up on his knees, then somehow falls back onto his butt. And the third position is he gets in the push-up position, then rolls to his side, then pushes himself up with one hand until he is sitting upright.
It's alot of fun to watch him learn, and, of course, we're very proud of him.

Happy Baby!!!
Ok, I haven't posted in a while, so here goes. Adam smiles like there is no tomorrow. He just mastered rolling over, where he just rolls to where he wants to go, and he's eating baby food now. Every parent who has a decent baby claims that their baby is "perfect", well, I'm doing the same. He's a very good baby, and we love him very much.
